Keeping Your Home in Order With a Baby

If you’ve just had a baby and you’re the type of person who still needs things clean all the time, you understand you need loads of energy to achieve this. Babies may be small humans, but they can prove to be a handful, particularly when you consider how much laundry they are capable of messing up in a single day. The chaos they can cause in the house is also unmatched. Most moms will tell you that it’s not easy to stay on top of housework with a baby around. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. There are a few tricks here there that could effectively and efficiently turn things around for you. And the best part is that you will be able to clean the house while still having ample time to cuddle the new superhuman.

So let’s take a look then!

5 Tricks to Keeping Your Home in Order With a Baby

  1. Revisit Your Definition of Tidy

The first step when you have a baby in the house is revisiting your definition of clean. If the room is not gleaming, but tidy, you are doing a fantastic job already. While clean, neat, and tidy meant everything remaining in their spot all day, things will definitely change when the new human comes. You may have to adapt to a new life where you have a basket with toys around, and sometimes seeing the toys leave the basket. To make things easier, you may want to consider training your baby to enjoy placing things back into the basket as a game.

  1. Take It One Room at a Time

The last thing you want to do is to lose your mind, so take it slow. It’s easier to get things done when you focus on important areas first and slowly move to other rooms throughout the day. The rule is, never leave a room empty-handed. Pick something that is out of place and take it to the room you’re heading to. You will be shocked just how much you will have done by the end of the day.

  1. Work With the Baby Not Against

A baby can make it very difficult for you to do anything, considering how much attention they want. And when they start crawling and pulling things, they can create lots of chaos in the house. So, to remain sane, don’t work against the little one, work with them. A good example is making cleaning a game, by involving them in things like picking the toys and lacing inside the basket. Or have them lay on the baby and kids playmats, while you fold clothes.

  1. Downsize the Knickknacks

Okay, so we all love our deco, but with a baby around, some things will have to go. If you have to keep them, have them at a height they can’t reach. Babies crawl and pull things. Sometimes, the first thing they think of is tasting them. You want a tidy house to have a few items that can easily pass their notice.

  1. Keep a Cleaning Caddy Handy in Each Room

Have a basket with some cleaning wipes, disinfectants, dusting cloths and tidying basket. This will help save time so that the few minutes that the baby is calm, you can clean the room. Saving time can make the difference between a clean house and a frustrated mum.
